Celebrate Black female entrepreneurs by tuning in to a virtual concert event featuring recording artists Ella Mai, Ari Lennox, and Tierra Whack with a special appearance by Mastercard's newest ambassador, GRAMMY® Award-winning singer and actor Jennifer Hudson. The virtual concert will spotlight the contributions of Black women in music and business, including the remarkable performers who will grace the digital stage.
After winning her first GRAMMY for her Hot 100 smash hit “Boo'd Up," R&B singer/songwriter Ella Mai’s debut opus was nominated for Best R&B Album the following year. Her platinum-selling effort also scored a triple-platinum hit with "Trip," which topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Ari Lennox blossomed into an R&B powerhouse when she delivered her platinum single "Shea Butter Baby," featuring J. Cole. Her torrid streak continued when she followed up with her certified gold record "BMO" from her debut album Shea Butter Baby. GRAMMY-nominated lyricist and fast-rising superstar Tierra Whack is solidifying her position as a force to be reckoned with her riveting release Whack World. Loaded with flavorful wordplay and boundless creativity, Whack netted her first GRAMMY nomination for her standout track, "Mumbo Jumbo."
Special guest Jennifer Hudson will also join and share details about the Strivers Initiative, a new, multifaceted platform she and Mastercard have launched in support of Black women business owners, who have been among the hardest hit during the coronavirus pandemic. It starts with Mastercard's pledge to invest $500M in Black communities and continues with a special grant program in partnership with Fearless Fund, a VC-firm started by women of color to help women of color founders grow their businesses.
On top of outstanding musical performances, the event features interviews with Black women entrepreneurs from the Strivers campaign, as well as a fireside chat with a panel of leading Black business owners. Plus, keep an eye out for exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities! Set your calendar to tune in to the concert on March 13, 2021, and discover how Mastercard is advancing equal opportunity for all and taking a stand against racism with the In Solidarity movement.
