In conjunction with the recent release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, Beach House 3 (Atlantic Records), the GRAMMY Museum welcomes GRAMMY®-nominated singer, songwriter and producer Ty Dolla $ign to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on his rising career and new music, moderated by GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Scott Goldman. The conversation will be followed by a performance.
The follow-up to Ty’s critically acclaimed 2015 debut album Free TC, Beach House 3 includes the songs “Love U Better” featuring Lil Wayne and The-Dream, “So Am I” featuring Damian Marley and Skrillex, and “Dawsin’s Breek” featuring Jeremih. The album has been featured in several fall previews, including Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and the Los Angeles Times, who credited Ty for helping “redefine L.A. radio with melodic hooks and his lush, hedonistic blend of R&B and rap.” Born Tyrone Griffin Jr., Ty has been an in-demand writer, producer, and featured artist since helming YG’s 2010 smash, “Toot It and Boot It” (featuring Ty Dolla $ign). Since then, he has fast become one of hip-hop’s most highly demanded collaborators, contributing his acclaimed production and writing skills to Chris Brown’s No. 1 hit, “Loyal,” Kanye West’s “Real Friends” and “Fade," Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home,” Rihanna’s “FourFiveSeconds” (with Kanye West and Paul McCartney), as well as work with Big Sean (“Play No Games” (featuring Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign), Trey Songz (“Fumble”), B.o.B (“HeadBand” (feat. 2 Chainz)), and Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg, whose "Young, Wild & Free” (featuring Bruno Mars) proved a GRAMMY-nominated blockbuster. His Beach House mixtape and EP series earned him further attention, leading Rolling Stone to call Ty one of the “10 New Artists You Need To Know in 2014.”
