Texas Chapter Governor and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Larry "S1" Griffin will be interviewed by Texas Chapter Vice President and legendary rapper Bernard “Bun B” Freeman about Larry's career, which began during his college years studying audio engineering in the late 1990s, how the pandemic and recent social unrest are impacting his work, and what led him to establish his Pray.Focus.Plan.Execute brand. The conversation will be followed by a short Q&A with the audience.
After receiving his associates degree in Applied Science in Audio Engineering in 1997, S1 went on to create a hip-hop/soul-inspired group called the Strange Fruit Project; his time as an emcee and executive producer for the project allowed him to hone in on a unique sound and develop his production skills. Fast forward to 2009 when prolific artist/songwriter Rhymefest introduced S1's music to Kanye West, leading to S1 co-producing West's first single "Power" off of the GRAMMY Award-winning album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. From there, S1 went on to team up with Beyoncé to co-produce her multi-platinum selling hit single, "Best Thing I've Never Had," followed by the Kanye and Jay-Z collaboration "Murder to Excellence" from Watch the Throne. S1 has also worked with Sarah Jaffe, Eminem, Madonna, Gladys knight, Drake, Lorde, The Game, 50 Cent, Adam Levine, and many more.
