Warner To Bid For EMI?
Warner Music Group is planning to make a $750 million bid for EMI Music Group's recorded music division, and could file a proposal with Terra Firma within the next few weeks, according to a Billboard.biz report. The report follows Terra Firma's recent loss in its trial against Citigroup over the private equity firm's acquisition of EMI Group in 2007, which found that Citigroup was not guilty of fraud in the 2007 buyout auction in which Terra Firma purchased EMI for $6.26 billion. Sullivan To Receive Billboard's Rising Star Award
Billboard announced GRAMMY-nominated R&B artist Jazmine Sullivan will be the recipient of its Rising Star Award on Dec. 2 in New York at the 2010 Billboard Women in Music event, celebrating the most powerful and talented women in the music business. Past recipients of the Rising Star Award, which honors artists who have achieved success and proven potential in the early stages of their careers, include GRAMMY winner Lady Gaga. Also being recognized at the Women in Music event is GRAMMY-winning Black Eyed Peas vocalist Fergie, who will receive the Woman of the Year Award. (11/15)
