UK Record Store Day Spikes Sales
Single sales were up 466 percent and album sales were up 8.9 percent over the previous week in the UK, reflecting sales activity from Record Store Day on April 17, according to figures from the Official Charts Company. Compared to Record Store Day 2009, single sales increased 96 percent, due in part to the availability of Record Store Day exclusive singles, and album sales increased 11 percent. London's Rough Trade East reported a 633 percent sales increase compared to the prior week, and a 340 percent increase over last year's event. (4/22)

Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald
was named Songwriter of the Year and GRAMMY winner Jason Mraz picked up Song of the Year honors for "I'm Yours" at the 27th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards on April 21 in Los Angeles. The Killers were honored with the Vanguard Award in recognition of their contribution to help shape the future of American Music.
