Fun. Breaks Digital Sales Record
Fun.'s "We Are Young" featuring Janelle Monáe placed No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the sixth consecutive week with digital sales totaling 390,000 for the week ending April 8, marking the first-ever song to log six weeks with digital sales of 300,000 or more, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Fun. surpasses Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie" featuring Rihanna, which spent five non-consecutive weeks on the chart with more than 300,000 units sold in 2010. Additionally, "We Are Young" has sold more than 3 million downloads to date, marking the only song to reach that feat so far in 2012. (4/12)

St. Jude To Honor Guerra
GRAMMY- and Latin GRAMMY-winning artist Juan Luis Guerra will be honored with the Al-Rashid Hope Award for his work benefitting children in the Dominican Republic and Latin America at the 10th annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels & Stars Gala on May 19 in Miami. GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY winner and previous Al-Rashid Hope Award recipient Juanes will co-host the event. (4/12)

Sony To Cut 10,000 Jobs
Sony Corporation has announced it will cut 10,000 jobs, approximately 6 percent of its global workforce, in an attempt to stave off four straight years of losses, according to a report. Sony President and CEO Kazuo Hirai announced the company's plans to concentrate investment and technology development in its electronics business, concentrating on mobile devices, digital cameras and games. The restructuring efforts will cost the company approximately $1 billion in 2012. Sony hopes to increase its sales by $100 billion through 2015. (4/12)
