First-Time Nominee: Morgan Page

The Recording Academy asked this year's first-time GRAMMY nominees to collect their thoughts and share what it feels like to be nominated for a GRAMMY. Tune in to the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, Feb. 13 on the CBS Television Network from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

When I heard about my GRAMMY nomination I was in the studio. I checked Twitter for a minute and saw people tweeting about the nominations, which I had completely forgotten about. Then a little later an e-mail came through with a "congrats" from a fellow producer, which I thought must have been a mistake. Then two more came in, then a dozen. My pulse started to race, and I convinced myself for a few days that it wasn't real. It took a good week to settle in!

It's a huge honor for me to be nominated and have my work recognized after 10 years and 126 remixes, and especially after my song "The Longest Road" (Deadmau5 Remix) got nominated in 2008 for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. I told my parents 10 years ago, "GRAMMY before 30," and right now I'm 29. It's great to be in a category with so many amazing artists that I respect: Axwell, Dirty South, David Guetta, and Wolfgang Gartner are incredible producers — so there is some serious competition! I'm pretty sure Axwell & Dirty South or David Guetta have a lock on this, but in the insanely unlikely and slight event that I win, I will either get dangerously intoxicated or go streaking through downtown L.A. Hopefully I'll get to hit up some cool GRAMMY parties. Now I need to decide what to wear! I don't have any suits — I've invested every cent in to the studio!

(Morgan Page is nominated for "Fantasy" (Morgan Page Remix) in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, category. He has remixed recordings for artists including Coldplay, Nelly Furtado, Stevie Nicks, Katy Perry, and Tegan & Sara, among others.)

Come back to tomorrow as we hear from first-time GRAMMY nominee Alex Cuba. Tune in to the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Meanwhile, visit The Recording Academy's social networks on Facebook and Twitter for updates and breaking GRAMMY news.
