Facebook Bests Google
Facebook.com accounted for 7.07 percent of all Web traffic in the United States from March 7–13, while Google.com accounted for 7.04 percent of all traffic, according to a report from global information services company Experian Hitwise. This marks the first time Facebook has posted a weekly traffic lead over Google. Facebook totaled 400 million worldwide users as of February, up from 200 million in April 2009. (3/17)

YouTube To Launch Musicians Wanted Program

YouTube is expected to launch Musicians Wanted, a new program designed to attract independent musicians to the site. The program will target unsigned artists and offer them the ability to create their own YouTube home page and share in the ad revenues generated by their videos. YouTube has previously only offered revenue-sharing to artists signed to record labels or artists with specially stipulated contracts. (3/17)

BEPs, Keys, Legend To Kick Off World Cup
GRAMMY-winning artists the Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys, Angelique Kidjo, and John Legend will perform at a celebratory concert to kick off the 2010 FIFA World Cup on June 10 at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. Other artists scheduled to perform include Latin GRAMMY winners Juanes and Shakira, among others. (3/17)
