Puerto Rican songwriter/producer Yeyo was the recent guest for an installment of The Recording Academy's 5 Questions With … series. Held at The Academy's headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., Yeyo discussed rapping in English and Spanish, his musical influences, current projects, and advice for aspiring artists, among other topics.

"Part of my philosophy is I don't take no for an answer, [because] I'm probably asking the wrong person," said Yeyo. "I've gotten a million no's in my life … but tomorrow I'll get a yes and that yes could change my life."

Born in Cupey, Puerto Rico, Yeyo relocated to Miami in 2003 and formed the Art of Sound Group Inc., a recording facility dedicated to producing and recording new and established artists. In 2005 he landed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and was signed to Epic Records as part of the Latin/R&B group the Dey, with whom he subsequently earned a Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 hit on Paula DeAnda's "Walk Away (Remember Me)." In 2007 the Dey released the EP, The Dey Has Come.

In 2005 Yeyo released the three-track EP Life Of A Warrior featuring "Please DJ." A Spanish version of "Please DJ" was released in 2010 featuring Itagui Correa from the Latin GRAMMY-nominated group Locos Por Juana.

Yeyo has gone on to collaborate with several artists, including Akon, José Feliciano, La Mafia, A.B. Quintanilla, RedOne, J.R. Rotem, Stargate, and Timbaland, and was featured on Rihanna's "Te Amo," a track from her 2009 album Rated R.

In November 2011 Yeyo released the single "Loving My Life," which he debuted exclusively on GRAMMY.com.
