Gallo has written for the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly, Downbeat, and Bon Appetit, and has written liner notes for albums for artists such as Chicago and Love. Gallo has also profiled artists including T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, Leon Huff, Kenny Gamble, Daryl Hall, and Iggy Pop, among others.
