Jason Smith
About me
Hey there. I'm Jason, a writer, a DJ, a podcaster, a loving husband, a doting father, and a generally restless spirit. In addition to my nine-to-five and parental responsibilities, I keep myself from getting enough sleep as a contributing writer for Impose Magazine and ReviewYou.com, as well as blogging for my own website, Both Sides Of The Surface. I am also the host and producer of the Radio BSOTS podcast, a showcase for independent hip-hop, soul, funk, and electronic music.
Some of my favorite artists include Frank Zappa, Prince, Fishbone, Basehead, Cocteau Twins, Negativland, The Residents, Carl Craig, and Squarepusher, just to name a few. When I'm not caring for my wonderful wife and adorably precocious daughter, I collect vinyl, treat liner notes like canonized literature, and still equate the term "mixtape" with actual cassettes. Feel free to connect with me through any of the following channels:

It may sound like a cop-out answer, but it depends on who you ask. For me, there is no difference between those two distinctions. Maybe for some, the "world music" tag takes on a more traditional or folk leaning while the "international" tag leaves room for more contemporary global sounds, but that's merely a guess.
