A personal tragedy was the reason I started listening to a genre of music that I ignored most of my life. My self-administered jazz therapy eventually turned into a passion and zeal that even I can't understand sometimes.
Now, I am some sort of new millennium disciple of jazz. There is just so much music to discover and to share: big band, swing, bebop, cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian jazz, acid jazz, post bop, soul jazz, gospel jazz, and funk.
Yes, I have fallen "hard" for it.
My appreciation for this music grows on a daily basis, especially when I hear it performed live. There are few things more enjoyable than live music and watching a jazz set is totally sublime.
I created a website, Elements of Jazz, in early 2010 with the intention of exploring new music, learning about the musicians and the projects they work on.
There is a vibrant, sexy world of jazz out there. Want to find out more about it? Let's find out about it together.
