What happens when you take a native Texan and land him in New York City for five years? He starts a blog about Americana and roots music to ground him in his history and squares it with the vibrancy of his new surroundings. My name is Baron and I come from a family of country music performers but denied my roots through my teens while I attended metal and punk shows.
Moving to the East Coast made me seek my roots and forays into other musical genres gave me a unique context to enjoy and cover Americana, roots and country music in a way that gives larger context to celebrate traditional sounds as well as performers pushing the boundaries.
Now based in San Francisco, the home of the nations largest Americana and roots event - The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Musical Festival, I used my blog and various social media to share my love of this music. It's great/strange using social technology to promote music which is often influenced by sounds and themes that predate the Interstate Highway System
"I've always felt that blues, rock 'n' roll and country are just about a beat apart."-Waylon Jennings
