With the start of the NFL's regular season finally upon us, anxious fans are looking forward to action where it counts most — on the field. The season kicks off officially tonight with the defending Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants hosting the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.

Of course, we're so excited about the 2012–2013 season that we cut right to the chase. We asked a group of musicians to offer their predictions for Super Bowl XLVII. Some of you may be thinking it might be way too early to make predictions — after all, just days ago the league's teams finalized their rosters. But it's that same foolhardy earliness that makes this particular exercise in prognostication so much fun.

It was a daunting task, but we found some musicians/NFL fans brave enough to put on their analyst caps. Will the Giants repeat their victorious road to the Super Bowl? Can recent champs like the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers regain the crown, or will an underdog emerge to nab the prized Vince Lombardi Trophy?

Musicians — start your crystal balls!

Artist: Lee Brice
Position: Country singer/songwriter
Favorite teams: Carolina Panthers ("because that's where I grew up") and Tennessee Titans ("I've lived in Nashville with the Titans for over 10 years")
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New England Patriots

"Neither team lost many players from last year and both have outstanding quarterbacks, but the Patriots will probably pull it out. If each team can stay healthy, they will both be hard to stop."

Artist: Lewis Cosby
Position: Bassist for 10 Years
Favorite team: Tennessee Titans
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New England Patriots

"Tom Brady is a winner and I think he has a bad hangover from last year's playoffs that he wants to get rid of. Brady shows that he can make any receiver look like a star because he puts the ball where he wants it. Of course, Green Bay is stacked with talent as well, but I think between the minds of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, the Patriots will overcome whatever may come their way."

Artist: Eric Hutchinson
Position: Singer/songwriter
Favorite team: Washington Redskins
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLVII winner: Green Bay Packers

"I've learned not to bet against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in New England. And I think the addition of wide receiver Brandon Lloyd gives them so many offensive weapons. The Green Bay Packers had an off year last year, but in the era of the quarterback, Aaron Rodgers reigns supreme."

Artist: Christian McBride
Position: GRAMMY-winning jazz bassist
Favorite team: Philadelphia Eagles
AFC champion: Baltimore Ravens
NFC champion: Philadelphia Eagles
Super Bowl XLVII winner: Baltimore Ravens

"I hate to say this, but if it went head-up between the Ravens and Eagles, I think the Ravens — sadly — would beat my Eagles. The Ravens' defense is legendary. I think [Eagles quarterback] Michael Vick runs around too much. Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs or one of those Ravens linebackers would just knock the stew out of Vick."

Artist: Outasight
Position: Hip-hop artist
Favorite team: New York Giants
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: New York Giants
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New York Giants

"The AFC is so wide [open] with only a few teams currently standing out to have breakout seasons … [it] could be interesting, but until otherwise noted, the Pats are still the team to beat. On the other side, the NFC is loaded. When picking the Giants, please do realize I'm being a pure, unadulterated homer. The Packers, Eagles and 49ers will all be gunning for the champs and are very real threats, especially the Pack and the league's best quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Look out for the Bears, too."

Artist: Q Parker
Position: Vocalist for GRAMMY-winning R&B group 112
Favorite team: Atlanta Falcons
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: New York Giants
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New York Giants

"The Giants always put it together. If you look at the last two Super Bowl seasons, they peaked at the right time. Eli Manning is arguably the best quarterback in the game, and a championship starts at the QB position. He is a proven winner. The Giants' offense and defense are very talented and consistent ... Super Bowl champs again!"

Artist: Marc Roberge
Position: Guitarist/vocalist for O.A.R.
Favorite team: Washington Redskins
AFC champion: Baltimore Ravens
NFC champion: New Orleans Saints
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New Orleans Saints

"I think the Saints take the Super Bowl at home in a big way. Despite needing to bounce back from major off-season nonsense, New Orleans has talent that, if healthy, won't be stopped. And the story of a Super Bowl win in their home city is too good."

Artists: The Roys' Lee Roy and Elaine Roy
Position: Country duo
Favorite teams: New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: Green Bay Packers
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New England Patriots

"Being from New England, we are very big fans of the Patriots. Love Tom Brady! They are a strong team and know how to handle pressure. We'll see if this year they bring the title home one more time."

Artist: Blair Taylor
Position: One-half of hip-hop duo speakers
Favorite team: New Orleans Saints
AFC champion: New England Patriots
NFC champion: New Orleans Saints
Super Bowl XLVII winner: New Orleans Saints

"The New Orleans Saints should win the Super Bowl because of two important things — we have a chip on our shoulder from everything with the bounty scandal, and the Super Bowl is in New Orleans. Being from New Orleans, our pride is everything and we have a lot to prove. Our defense has improved slightly, and our offense is as potent as ever with Drew Brees leading as he always does. Who Dat 2 Dat!"

How did our guest analysts do? We'll have to wait until February. Until then, spike the ball and drop us a comment below with your Super Bowl predictions.
