On May 16 GRAMMY-nominated indie rock band Silversun Pickups were the featured guests at 98.7-FM's Penthouse, an exclusive concert series hosted by Los Angeles-based radio station KYSR-FM at the historic Hollywood Tower in Hollywood, Calif. Before an intimate crowd of radio contest winners, Silversun Pickups' guitarist/vocalist Brian Aubert and bassist Nikki Monninger performed an acoustic set featuring the Billboard Alternative Songs hit "Lazy Eye" and songs from their most recent release, Neck Of The Woods, including "Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)," among others.

Prior to the performance, Aubert and Monninger participated in an exclusive interview with GRAMMY.com and discussed being nominated for a GRAMMY, creative influences, career mentors, and their new album, Neck Of The Woods, among other topics.

"The viewpoint of the first half of the record is from the fringe," said Aubert. "The neck of the woods means you're just on the outskirts of [the woods], you're not in the center, and [that's where] you really want to be."

Formed in Los Angeles in 2005, Silversun Pickups, who derived their name from Silversun Liquor in Silver Lake, Calif., features Aubert, drummer Christopher Guanlao, keyboardist Joe Lester, and Monninger. In 2005 Silversun Pickups released a six-song debut EP, Pikul, and subsequently toured with artists such as Brenden Benson, Dead Meadow and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, among others. In 2006 the band released their debut album, Carnavas, featuring "Lazy Eye." Swoon followed in 2009 and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 on the strength of the No. 4 Billboard Rock Songs hit "Panic Switch." That same year the band earned their first GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist. Released May 8, Neck Of The Woods, which was recorded in Aubert's hometown neighborhood of Topanga Canyon, Calif., peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. Silversun Pickups are currently on tour throughout the United States and Canada, with select dates scheduled through September.
