GRAMMY-nominated and Latin GRAMMY-winning Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco De Lucía died Feb. 25 following an apparent heart attack in Mexico, according to a CNN report. He was 66. Born in Algeciras, Spain, De Lucía is credited with transforming traditional flamenco guitar into a more modern sound. Among the artists he collaborated with are late flamenco vocalist El Camaron De La Isla and GRAMMY winners Chick Corea and Al Di Meola. In 2004 he earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary World Music Album for Cositas Buenas. That same year the album earned De Lucía his first Latin GRAMMY for Best Flamenco Album. He earned a second Latin GRAMMY in the category in 2012 for En Vivo Conciertos España 2010.
