Eight-time Latin GRAMMY winner and two-time GRAMMY winner Caetano Veloso will be celebrated as the 2012 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year at a star-studded dinner and concert on Nov. 14 in Las Vegas. Artists confirmed to perform at the celebration are Spanish singer/songwriter Enrique Bunbury; nine-time GRAMMY winner Natalie Cole; 17-time Latin GRAMMY winner Juanes; Latin GRAMMY winners Lila Downs, Seu Jorge and Ivete Sangalo; and 2009 Latin Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Tania Libertad.

A portion of the net proceeds from the gala will benefit Veloso's chosen charity, Fundación Viva Cazuza in Brazil — a not-for-profit HIV prevention and treatment organization for children and young people — as well as The Latin Recording Academy's outreach and education programs.

The 2012 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year celebration will precede the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, which will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on the Univision Network on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central.

The 2012 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year celebration is an official Latin GRAMMY Week event. Mario Ruiz is executive producer, Greg Fera is producer. Cheche Alara is musical director (with support from Moon Moosic), Moogie Canazio is music supervisor, and Gustavo Borner is sound engineer.
