MusiCares has announced the establishment of the MusiCares Colorado Relief Fund in an effort to provide support to members of the music community affected by the September floods in Colorado. Assistance includes basic living expenses such as shelter, food, utilities, and transportation; medical expenses; clothing; instrument and recording equipment replacements; relocation costs; home repairs; debris removal; and more.
"The recent flooding in Colorado brought devastation to the area and its residents, many of whom are musicians and music industry professionals," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy and MusiCares. "It is a natural extension and part of our mission to provide outreach and support to those members of our music family in their time of need just as we have in the past to other communities who have suffered from natural disasters and disruption."
Music people seeking assistance and individuals interested in supporting MusiCares' relief efforts should visit www.musicares.org, where they can find a downloadable application, toll-free contact numbers, a list of other resources, and a donation link. In addition, Guitar Center is partnering to help raise funds for relief by including a MusiCares logo and link to a donation page on each of its retail stores' websites.
