- GRAMMY Live
The Recording Academy Texas Chapter played host for GRAMMYs On The Road At Austin City Limits Music Festival during the festival's 10th anniversary from Sept. 16–18 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The Chapter conducted exclusive backstage interviews with artists performing at the festival, including Canadian pop/rock outfit Broken Social Scene and rapper Wax.
Broken Social Scene vocalists/guitarists Brendan Canning and Kevin Drew discussed formal musical training, career highlights, songwriting, and advice for aspiring artists.
"Practice and have something good to fall back on," said Canning on advice for aspiring artists. "Enjoy it," added Drew. "Don't abuse it, and go to sleep early…after you've got a few years of not sleeping at all."
Wax discussed the influence of YouTube, social media and other artists he's currently listening to.
"YouTube was big for me," said Wax. "I started [posting] videos on YouTube and eventually the views got bigger and bigger…and it just ballooned from there."
