- GRAMMY Live
J. Viewz is the multigenre project of Brooklyn, N.Y.-based producer/remixer Jonathan Dagan. Dagan's latest release as J. Viewz, Rivers And Homes., was released in 2011 and earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Recording Package at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Today, GRAMMY.com has your exclusive first look at the video for the title track from Rivers And Homes.
The video for "Rivers And Homes" marks the reteaming of Dagan with director Shelly Carmel, who previously directed J. Viewz's video for "Salty Air." The majority of the "Rivers And Homes" was shot in upstate New York. The duo recruited photographer Eran Amir, who created the stop-motion portion of the video using 2,000 printed frames during J. Viewz's recent tour of Israel.
"This track has a certain sense of 'togetherness,'" said Dagan. "When I stumbled upon Eran's technique I realized that it would be perfect to sort of project a video through its likely audience. We were looking for a way to create a video that isn't 'one-sided,' so that was our way to offer an 'unfurnished version' to our fans and have them leave a personal mark."
Originally titled Work In Progress, tracks from Rivers And Homes. were released gradually over the course of a year to fans who pre-ordered the album. Each song was recorded in the same period in which it had been conceived, giving fans an "intimate, real-time look at the artistic evolution of the album." Once completed, the album was distributed in a physical format to J. Viewz's subscribers.
Prior to Rivers And Homes., J. Viewz released The Besides EP in 2008.
