- GRAMMY Live
Today, singer/songwriter Ben Taylor released his latest album, Listening. In conjunction with the release of the album, GRAMMY.com has your exclusive first look at a live acoustic performance video for "Oh Brother," a track with a full-band arrangement featured on Listening.
The son of GRAMMY winners James Taylor and Carly Simon, Ben Taylor taught himself how to play guitar and developed an early interest in traveling the world by ninth grade. After a trip to the Caribbean in his early 20s, which inspired him to craft a handful of songs, Taylor landed in Los Angeles in 2001 where he formed the Ben Taylor Band. The band released Famous Among The Barns in 2003, peaking at No. 31 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart. Another Run Around The Sun, produced by actor/musician Kevin Bacon, was released in 2005, followed by The Legend Of Kung Folk, Pt. 1 in 2008.
Combining elements of folk, pop, soul, urban, reggae, and country, Taylor considers Listening to be a musical "evolution." In an exclusive interview with GRAMMY.com, Taylor describes the album as "a musical record of my life over the period of time since the last time I released an album."
"[There are] lots of songs about love … [and] a couple of very personal [songs]," says Taylor. "I think it's an album for people with eclectic tastes," he says.
Taylor is currently on tour throughout the United States, with dates scheduled through October.
