GRAMMY.com Exclusive First Listen: Trey Eley And Matthew Shell

R&B/jazz flautist Trey Eley and producer/engineer Matthew Shell have teamed to release Freedom on Aug. 30. Ahead of the album's release, GRAMMY.com has your exclusive first listen to the song "Twilight" featuring GRAMMY-nominated trumpet player Greg Adams.

Born Melvin Eley III, Trey Eley released his debut solo album, The Beginning, in 2007, followed by 2008's 24th Music Presents: The Jazz Boyz: Volume One and 2009's The Funky Flute EP. Aside from his solo career, Eley is also the leader of the Trey Eley eXperience and the co-leader of the urban jazz band the Jazz Boyz. Eley has performed alongside musicians such as saxists Paul Carr, Marcus H. Mitchell, Mike Phillips, and Darren Rahn.

Hailing from Washington, D.C., Shell is currently based in Vienna, Va., where he works as a producer at Assembly Line Studios. He has produced artists such as Marcus Johnson and Carolyn Malachi and engineered for artists such as O.A.R., among others. More recently, Shell produced/mixed the forthcoming collaborative jazz album Freedom. In addition to Adams, the album also features bassist Markus Huber, pianist Vahagn Stepanyan and vocalist Kenny Wesley, among others.
