GRAMMY.com Exclusive First Listen: Sevendust

Alternative metal quintet Sevendust are set to release their new studio album, Black Out The Sun, on March 26. Ahead of the album's release, GRAMMY.com has your exclusive first listen to the thundering track "Till Death."

"I can't wait for people to feel the emotion and energy in this album," said lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon. "I'll never forget the first time we got together. There was something [magical] about it. It's like this band is what we were all meant to do. I still feel that way. I never want to stop. This is what fans have been waiting for, and Sevendust is here to stay."

Formed in 1994 in Atlanta, Sevendust comprise Witherspoon, John Connolly (guitar/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals), and Morgan Rose (drums/vocals). The band issued their self-titled debut album in 1997, followed by their sophomore effort, 1999's Home. Both albums have been certified gold by the RIAA, with the latter peaking at No. 19 on the Billboard 200.

Subsequent studio albums such as Seasons (2003), Next (2005), Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow (2008), and Cold Day Memory (2010) all peaked within the Top 20 on the Billboard 200, with the latter album featuring the Billboard Rock Songs hit "Unraveling."

Recorded at Architekt Studios in Butler, N.J., Black Out The Sun was self-produced by Sevendust alongside engineer Mike Ferretti. The band finished the entire album in 31 days, with the resulting 13 songs ranging from the explosively heavy "Decay," the album's lead single, to the melodic title track and the pensive acoustic nature of "Got A Feeling."

Sevendust are in the midst of a U.S. tour in support of Black Out The Sun, with dates scheduled through May.
