Detroit singer/songwriter Mozella is set to release her new album, The Brian Holland Sessions, on July 24. Ahead of the album's release, GRAMMY.com has your exclusive first listen to the song "Baby Save Me."
Born Maureen McDonald in Detroit, Mozella's music features elements of pop, soul and jazz. After graduating from high school, Mozella moved to Los Angeles and in 2004 she signed a deal with Madonna's Maverick Records label. Mozella subsequently toured with artists such as Michelle Branch, Colbie Caillat, Dave Matthews Band, Lifehouse, and Five For Fighting, among others. Working with producer/songwriter Jude Cole, Mozella released her debut album, I Will, in 2006. Her sophomore album, 2009's Belle Isle, was released on Universal Motown Records Group. Additionally, several of Mozella's songs have been featured in film and TV projects, including "One Tree Hill," "Fringe," "Private Practice," Life As We Know It, and Did You Hear About The Morgans?
Mozella's forthcoming album, The Brian Holland Sessions, features 10 songs co-written with legendary Motown songwriter and Recording Academy Trustees Award recipient Brian Holland. The album is co-produced by Holland and GRAMMY-nominated producer David Wilder (Macy Gray).
