GRAMMY.com Exclusive First Listen: Don Felder

GRAMMY-winning artist Don Felder is set to release his second solo album, Road To Forever, on Oct. 9. Ahead of the album's release, GRAMMY.com has your exclusive first listen to "Wash Away."

"Who would have ever thought that a guitar player from Gainesville would go on to be in the Eagles, and then become a best-selling author?" said Felder. "I had to figure all that out for myself, and I'm glad that I did. In the process of making Road To Forever, I found out who I really am."

A native of Gainesville, Fla., Felder was a guitarist/contributing songwriter for the Eagles for nearly three decades. He co-wrote "Hotel California," the Record Of The Year GRAMMY-winning title track from the group's GRAMMY Hall Of Fame-inducted album, 1976's Hotel California, and fan favorites such as "Victim Of Love" and "Those Shoes." His signature lyrical guitar style proved to be an integral component of the Eagles' breezy sound, evidenced by hits such as "Life In The Fast Lane," "New Kid In Town" and "Heartache Tonight," among others. The latter song won a GRAMMY for Best Rock Vocal Performance By A Duo Or Group in 1979.

A year following the group's breakup, in 1983 Felder released his debut solo album, Airborne, which cracked the Billboard 200. Airborne featured guest appearances by Eagles bandmate Timothy B. Schmit, Jeff Lorber and Kenny Loggins, among others. In 1994 the Eagles reunited for a successful reunion tour, which spawned Hell Freezes Over, a live album featuring new tracks such as the GRAMMY-nominated "Love Will Keep Us Alive." After leaving the Eagles in 2001, Felder chronicled his career with the band in his New York Times best-selling memoir, 2008's Heaven And Hell: My Life In The Eagles.

Road To Forever, Felder's first solo album in nearly 30 years, was co-produced with Robin DiMaggio (Jackson Browne, Paul Simon, Steve Vai). The introspective song cycle was conceived following Felder's departure from the Eagles and his divorce from his wife of 29 years. Road To Forever features collaborations with a diverse cast of musicians, including David Crosby, Randy Jackson, Steve Lukather, Graham Nash, Tommy Shaw, and Stephen Stills, among others. Felder has U.S. concert dates scheduled through November.
