FYI …

Satellite Radio Royalties To Increase Through 2017
On Dec. 15 the Copyright Royalty Board announced a new statutory royalty rate for satellite radio services that will result in progressively higher royalty rates through 2017, according to a Billboard.biz report. Preexisting royalty rates for satellite radio services will increase from 9 percent in 2013 to 11 percent by 2017, which will be paid to record labels and recording artists through SoundExchange. In addition, the CRB set statutory royalty rates for preexisting subscription services to 8 percent of revenue for 2013 and 8.5 percent for 2014–2017.

Madonna Tops 2012 Tours
Madonna's MDNA tour topped Billboard's list of highest grossing tours of 2012 with total revenue of $228.4 million over 72 shows. Bruce Springsteen's Wrecking Ball tour placed second with $199.37 million, followed by Roger Waters ($186.46 million), Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour ($147.3 million), and Coldplay ($147.1 million).

TMI …

Winter Love For Clarkson, Deadmau5
Since we've been gone (for the weekend), current GRAMMY nominees Kelly Clarkson and Deadmau5 have gotten engaged (though not to each other). The stronger singer announced her engagement to Brandon Blackstock, the son of her longtime manager Narvel Blackstock and stepson of country singer Reba McEntire, via Twitter: "I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)." Fans also found out about Deadmau5's engagement to girlfriend Kat Von D in 140 characters or less. Popping the big question via Twitter, Deadmau5 posted a photo of a skull- and diamond-encrusted ring and tweeted, "I can't wait for Christmas so.... Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?" Von D's response was a series of exclamation points, to which the famous mouse head responded: "Holy ... im engaged and stuff!"
