(In an effort to keep you fully informed, and fully entertained, below we present you with today's FYI and TMI — news you need and news that's, well, sometimes needless….)

FYI …

Mumford & Sons Score Largest Debut Of The Year
Mumford & Sons' Babel debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 600,000 units sold, surpassing Justin Bieber, who debuted atop the chart in June with Believe with 374,000 units sold, for the largest first-week sales total of the year, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Babel is the GRAMMY-nominated quartet's first chart-topping album, and the first No. 1 for their label, Glassnote Records. Babel also earned the second-largest digital sales week for an album with 420,000 units sold, following Lady Gaga's Born This Way, which moved 662,000 downloads in its first week in 2011. Additionally, Babel drew a record nearly 8 million U.S. streams on Spotify during the first seven days of its release.

TMI …

Minaj, Carey Heat Up "American Idol" Auditions
While Mumford & Sons have been busy knocking Justin Bieber from the top spot on the Billboard 200, Nicki Minaj is threatening to literally knock out Mariah Carey. During a taping of auditions for "American Idol" on Oct. 2, the two nearly came to blows after a disagreement over a contestant's performance led Minaj to launch a series of verbal starships at Carey. After Carey reportedly called the pink-haired singer a four-letter word, Minaj fired back, "I'm gonna knock you out!" According to "American Idol" creators, the negative chemistry between the two singers is now "a major concern." Will fellow judges Keith Urban and Randy Jackson be able to keep them under control? Or is there about to be a girl fight on this season of "American Idol"?
