SoundExchange Distributions Up 25 Percent In 2012
Performance rights organization SoundExchange distributed $462 million in digital performance royalties in 2012, up 58 percent compared to 2011. The organization ended the fourth quarter with a total $134.9 million in royalty payments, up 10 percent compared to the third quarter and 50.7 percent compared to the same period in 2011. SoundExchange has distributed more than $1 billion in royalties since its inception in 2003, according to the company.

Sony Inks New Pandora Deal
The recently merged Sony/ATV Music Publishing and EMI Music Publishing have reached a new year-long deal with Pandora that will result in a 25 percent increase in royalty payments from the online radio service, according a New York Post report. Further details on the agreement were not disclosed.

The Return Of Kris Kross
GRAMMY-nominated hip-hop duo Kris Kross are returning and they're ready to make you jump, jump again. It's been more than 20 years since the backward-dressing pair, Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith, released their debut album, 1992's Totally Krossed Out, and they're returning to the stage to perform at a concert celebrating their former label, So So Def Recordings. The concert will take place Feb. 23 in Atlanta, where the duo will likely perform their No. 1 hit "Jump." While the duo is sure to make the crowd jump, we are eager to see which way their clothes will be facing.
