Block Party

The Recording Academy Nashville Chapter's 12th Annual GRAMMY Block Party and Membership Celebration took place on May 11 at Owen Bradley Park in Nashville, Tenn., and the event helped raise funds to support those affected by the recent floods.

In addition to providing Academy members with an opportunity to come together and celebrate the local music community, the event featured performances by bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent, contemporary Christian artist Plumb, GRAMMY-winning country artist Darius Rucker, country music duo Steel Magnolia, and funk band Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Recording Academy and MusiCares President/CEO Neil Portnow and Recording Academy Chair George J. Flanigen IV were also in attendance.

This year's block party also served as a fundraiser for the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund. "The Academy is in solidarity with you, in lockstep with the critical efforts to rebuild your city and to rebuild your lives," said Portnow during his remarks. "Our MusiCares Foundation is equipped and ready to help our Nashville people in need."

MusiCares' emergency assistance efforts are ongoing, and 100 percent of every dollar raised will be immediately distributed to help those in the music community that are victims of the flood.
