Joshua Scott Jones and Meghan Linsey of Steel Magnolia stopped by The Recording Academy's headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., on Sept. 21 for an installment of 5 Questions With…. The country music duo also performed an intimate set featuring "Ooh La La," "Glass Houses" and their debut single "Keep On Lovin' You" from their self-titled debut album, due out Jan. 11, 2011.

Steel Magnolia answered questions spanning a variety of topics including how the duo met, musical influences, their creative process, the importance of The Recording Academy, and the influence of social media.

When asked about how social media has influenced their career, Linsey said, "It's easier to get your music out there." Jones added, "It's cool to keep up with your fans. I think that's really important."

After meeting at a karaoke bar in Nashville, the duo appeared as contestants on CMT's "Can You Duet" in 2009 and won the competition, walking away with a record deal with Big Machine Records, home to GRAMMY winner Taylor Swift. The label released Steel Magnolia's first debut single "Keep On Lovin' You" in August 2009, which reached No. 4 on the Hot Country Songs chart and appeared on the soundtrack for the film Valentine's Day. In April Steel Magnolia performed at The Recording Academy Nashville Chapter's GRAMMY Block Party to raise funds for the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund. The duo released a self-titled EP earlier this year.
