UK Recorded Music Revenue Up In 2009
Recorded music revenue in the UK totaled $1.44 billion in 2009, a 1.4 percent year-over-year increase, according to UK trade organization BPI. While digital revenue totaled $292.2 million, up 47.8 percent from 2008, accounting for 20.3 percent of all recorded music revenue, physical revenue declined 6.1 percent to $1.14 million, the sixth consecutive year physical sales have dropped. Music DVD revenue increased 16.1 percent to $51.2 million and mobile-based revenue declined 13.3 percent to $19.6 million. (4/26)

French Live Music Income Strong In 2009
The French live music market generated $104.4 million in 2009, constituting 10 percent of overall revenue for the Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Éditeurs de Musique. In comparison, recordings and video income accounted for 12 percent of SACEM's revenue. In 2003 France's live music market totaled $69.7 million, 7 percent of SACEM's revenue. (4/26)
