UK Digital Royalties To Match Physical By 2014?
Following yesterday's report by the British Phonographic Industry that digital music sales have surpassed physical in the UK, British collecting society PRS for Music has reported that digital royalty distributions will match physical payments by 2014. PRS for Music collected $293 million from 150 countries in 2011, with revenues from digital royalties growing 42 percent to $60.9 million, representing 10 percent of royalties collected last year, according to PRS for Music Chief Financial Officer Craig Nunn. Still, the organization expects slowing physical sales and robust growth in digital sales to even the scales between the two by 2014. (6/1)
