Nielsen SoundScan has restructured its analysis to include market share breakdown by label ownership, revealing that independent labels collectively accounted for 31.2 percent of album and track equivalent sales during the first six months of 2011, according to a representative of independent association A2IM reported by Digital Music News.
GRAMMY-winning artists and Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson will be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame at the 2010 Benefit Concert and Awards Ceremony June 14 at the Apollo Theatre in New York.
