Sony/ATV Acquires Jackson's Mijac Music
Sony/ATV Music Publishing, a joint venture between Sony Corporation and the Michael Jackson estate, has acquired the global rights to Jackson's Mijac Music Catalog, which was previously administered by Warner/Chappell Music. In addition to Jackson's songs, Mijac includes the Sly And The Family Stone catalog and songs by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, as well as songs performed by artists such as Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley, among others. Moore, Krauss Lead Bluegrass Nominations
Nominations for the 2012 International Bluegrass Music Awards were announced with Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out leading with a combined nine nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year for Prime Tyme, among others. GRAMMY winners Alison Krauss & Union Station received a combined eight nominations, including Entertainer of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year, among others. Additional artists garnering multiple nominations included Blue Highway, the Boxcars, Dailey & Vincent, and the Gibson Brothers. Winners will be announced during World of Bluegrass Week on Sept. 27 in Nashville. (8/20)
