Sony Introduces Android Tablet
Sony
unveiled its first tablet computers, tentatively code named the S1 and S2, at a press conference in Tokyo today. While pricing structure was not announced, the tablets will be available to consumers worldwide in fall 2011. The S1, featuring a 9.4-inch screen, and S2, a folding unit with two 5.5-inch screens, will be compatible with WiFi and 3G or 4G networks and will feature Google's Android 3.0 operating system. Other features include front and rear cameras and access to Qriocity (music and video), the PlayStation Network (downloadable video games) and Sony's Reader Store (e-books). Apple's iPad is the current tablet marketplace leader, with Samsung's Galaxy Tab ranking second. (4/26)
