Ritmo Latino Closes Its Doors
U.S. Latin music chain Ritmo Latino has closed the last of its stores due to the decline in Latin music sales and the economy, according to founder/owner David Massry. Once the largest Latin music chain in the United States, in 2008 Ritmo Latino was operating 53 stores nationwide. However, sales of Latin music in the United States continue to decline with 6.4 million units sold in the first six months of 2010, down from 8.9 million in the same period last year, according to Neilsen SoundScan.
