Reid Named Chairman/CEO Of Epic Records
Following a recent report, Antonio "L.A." Reid has been named chairman and CEO of Epic Records. Reid will oversee all day-to-day operations of the New York-based label and will report to Doug Morris, chief executive officer, Sony Music Entertainment. As previously reported, Reid will appear as a judge on Simon Cowell's TV show "The X Factor," which will debut Sept. 21. The Epic roster will include artists developed from the show in addition to new signings. (7/19)

Adele, PJ Harvey Among Barclaycard Mercury Prize Nominees
Nominations for the UK's 2011 Barclaycard Mercury Prize, an award honoring the best British or Irish album of the year, were announced today in London with Adele's 21 and PJ Harvey's Let England Shake among the nominees. The other nominees are Anna Calvi, Elbow, Everything Everything, Ghostpoet, Gwilym Simcock, James Blake, Katy B, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins, Metronomy, and Tinie Tempah. The winner will be announced at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards show on Sept. 6 in London. (7/19)
