Album sales at U.S. independent retail outlets during the week of Record Store Day increased 26.6 percent compared to the previous week, accounting for nearly all of the U.S. market's overall gain of 113,000 units for the week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Record Store Day also helped drive a 182.7 percent sales increase in vinyl album sales, while vinyl single sales increased an exponential 1,016.7 percent and 12-inch vinyl sales grew 3,000 percent. However, compared to the same period last year, overall music sales fell 11.4 percent. (4/26)

Spotify To Develop Online Radio Service?
Music streaming service Spotify is developing a U.S. Internet radio service to compete with Pandora, according to a Billboard.biz report. The ad-supported service is expected to launch sometime before 2013. (4/26)
