Platt Named Warner/Chappell Head Of Creative
Following last week's news, "Big" Jon Platt has been appointed to the newly created position of president, creative — North America for Warner/Chappell Music. In his new role, Platt will oversee A&R activities throughout North America, including in Los Angeles, New York and Nashville, and will play a key role in planning and implementing the company's strategy. Platt will be based in Los Angeles and report to Warner/Chappell Music Chairman and CEO Cameron Strang. (9/11)

Vevo Mobile Viewing On The Rise
According to second-quarter figures released by music video site Vevo, mobile continues to be the company's fastest-growing platform with 18 million mobile and tablet apps downloaded to date, up 146 percent compared to the same period last year. Global mobile traffic nearly doubled to 1.3 million streams compared to the first quarter of 2012, while average monthly videos streamed via mobile increased 11 percent to 15 videos. A total of 40 billion music videos were watched globally for the year ending June 30. (9/11)

3BallMTY Lead Billboard Mexican Music Awards Nods
Nominations for the second annual Billboard Mexican Music Awards were announced with Mexican DJ collective 3BallMTY leading with 12 nominations, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for "Inténtalo." Corrido singer Gerardo Ortiz and singer/songwriter Espinoza Paz followed with 11 nominations each, including nods for Artist of the Year. Additional artists garnering nominations include La Arrolladora Banda El Limón De René Camacho, Julión Alvarez Y Su Norteño Banda and America Sierra, among others. The awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Oct. 18. (9/11)
