Online Video Is the Preferred Digital Music Format
Online video is the most popular digital music format, according to a survey conducted by Nielsen and Midem, with 57 percent of respondents reporting they had watched online video in the last three months. The second most popular digital music format was illegal downloading with 49 percent responding they have downloaded "a song without paying for it," followed by online streaming (26 percent), watching videos via mobile devices (21 percent), streaming music via mobile applications (21 percent), paying for a digital track (18 percent), and paying for a digital album (9 percent). The online survey was conducted in September 2010 and queried more than 26,000 people across 53 international markets. (9/19)

Lady Gaga Leads MTV EMA Nods
Nominations were announced for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2011 with GRAMMY winner Lady Gaga in the lead with six nominations, including Best Pop, Best Female and Best Song for "Born This Way." Bruno Mars and Katy Perry followed with four nominations, including Best Male and Best Female, respectively. Other artists receiving nods were 30 Seconds To Mars, Adele, Justin Bieber, Foo Fighters, Jennifer Lopez, and Britney Spears, among others. The awards will take place Nov. 6 in Belfast, Ireland.
