Online Video Consumption Up
More than 10 billion online videos were streamed during August, a 1.3 percent increase from the same period last year and a 4 percent jump from the previous month, according to recent data from Nielsen. Average time spent on each video was also up 3.1 percent from last year and up 2.5 percent from the previous month. YouTube was the top online video destination ranked by both unique viewers and number of streams followed by Yahoo, Facebook, Microsoft, and Google to round out the top five. (7/20)

Barclaycard Mercury Prize Nominees Announced
Nominations for the UK's 2010 Barclaycard Mercury Prize, an award honoring the best British or Irish album of the year, were announced today in London. Artists up for the award this year include Biffy Clyro, Dizzee Rascal, Kit Downes Trio, Foals, I Am Kloot, Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons, GRAMMY winner Corinne Bailey Rae, Villagers, Paul Weller, Wild Beasts, and the XX. The winner will be announced at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards show on Sept. 7. (7/20)
