Nettwerk Departs Sony, Signs With ADA
Nettwerk Records announced it has discontinued its distribution deal with Sony and signed a new agreement with the Alternative Distribution Alliance. The agreement will give ADA rights to U.S. physical and digital distribution of current and upcoming Nettwerk releases including Angus & Julia Stone, Great Lake Swimmers, Ladytron, and the Weepies, among others. ADA will also handle Nettwerk's catalog, which includes recordings from Be Good Tanyas, Delerium, Hope Sandoval, and Skinny Puppy, among others. (6/9)

UK's PPL Income Down In 2009
The UK-based music licensing company PPL has reported a decline in license fee income for 2009, down 12.7 percent to $161.9 million compared to the prior year. The decline is a result of refunds paid out in response to last October's Copyright Tribunal decision in which PPL lost a bid to increase fees on the hospitality sector. Without the refunds, license fee income would have reached $188.4 million, a 2 percent year-over-year increase. International revenue grew 40 percent to $31.4 million. (6/9)
