NEA Reveals 2013 Jazz Masters Honorees
Pianist/songwriter Mose Allison, alto saxist Lou Donaldson and GRAMMY-winning bandleader Eddie Palmieri will be honored as the 2013 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters honorees. Lorraine Gordon, owner of New York's Village Vanguard jazz club, will be honored with the 2013 A.B. Spellman NEA Jazz Maters Award for Jazz Advocacy. The honorees will be celebrated during an awards ceremony and concert on Jan. 14, 2013. Established in 1982, the NEA Jazz Masters Award recognizes artists who have made major contributions to jazz. Past recipients include Count Basie, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Herbie Hancock, and Sonny Rollins, among others. (7/23)
