According to new data from the NPD Group, 9 percent of U.S. Internet users engaged in using a P2P file-sharing service during the fourth quarter of 2010 following the October closure of LimeWire, down from 12 percent in the third quarter and 16 percent in the fourth quarter of 2007. Total file-sharers using LimeWire reached 32 percent during the fourth quarter, down from 56 percent in the previous quarter. NPD Group also estimated the amount of downloads from P2P services declined from 35 tracks per person in the fourth quarter of 2007 to 18 tracks per person in the fourth quarter of 2010. (3/24)
