MTV VMAs Spike Sales
Performers and winners from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards led to an increase in download sales for Florence + The Machine, whose video for "Dog Days Are Over" picked up an award for Best Art Director. The song rose to No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 with sales of 96,000 units, a 257 percent increase. MTV VMA performers experiencing sales increases include Linkin Park (up 195 percent) and Drake (up 111 percent). (9/23)

Handlin Named ARIA Chairman
The Australian Record Industry Association announced that Sony Music Entertainment Australia and New Zealand's Chairman/CEO Denis Handlin has been appointed chairman of the association, replacing former Warner Music Australia President/CEO Ed St John. Handlin, the longest serving member of the ARIA Board of Directors, previously served as chairman of the association from 1998–2008. (9/23)
