MTV VMAs Scores Record 12.4 Million Viewers
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards drew 12.4 million viewers on Aug. 28, a 9 percent increase over last year's broadcast and the largest audience in the history of the awards show. The show's 10.8 rating among the 12–34 demographic was an increase of 8 percent compared to 2009, marking MTV's most-watched telecast of all time in the demo. MTV.com attracted 2 million unique visitors and 10 million page views on Aug. 28, up 18 percent from 2010. Performances included Adele, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry was among the top winners, taking home three awards. (8/30)
