Moore Named New IFPI CEO
IFPI announced John Kennedy will resign his duties as chairman and CEO after a tenure of more than five years and that Frances Moore, currently IFPI's executive vice president and regional director, Europe, will succeed Kennedy as CEO. Moore has more than 20 years of experience in government and public affairs, including 15 years as the chief representative of the recording industry in the European Union. (6/24)

Drake Scores 2010's Third-Best Weekly Sales Total
GRAMMY-nominated artist Drake's Thank Me Later debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 447,000 units, marking the third-best sales week of the year. The top weekly sales totals of 2010 to date are Sade's Soldier Of Love (502,000 units) and Lady Antebellum's Need You Now (481,000 copies). Overall album sales this week totaled 6.14 million units, up 9 percent from last week. Year-to-date album sales have reached 142.4 million units, down 11 percent compared to the same point in 2009.
