Moore Named CMA Chief
Steve Moore has been appointed CEO of the Country Music Association and will step down from his position as chairman of the CMA Board of Directors. Moore, a member of the board since 1989, was elected president in 2008 and chairman in 2009 before becoming interim director in January after former CEO Tammy Genovese's resignation last December. Moore is a Nashville music community veteran, having served as the first executive director of the Starwood Amphitheater and senior VP of AEG Live. (8/20)

Digital Album Sales Up 51 Percent In Germany
Digital album sales in Germany increased 51 percent to 4.7 million units, generating revenue of $53.3 million for the first six months of the year, according to figures released by the BVMI, the German association of the music industry. Single track sales for the first six months of the year reached 29.7 million downloads, a 30 percent increase from the same period last year. BVMI expects the country's number of digital music consumers to increase from the current 5 million to 15 million by 2013. (8/20)
