Jamaica Music Museum To Open In Kingston
The Jamaica Music Museum will open in Kingston in 2010 featuring rare pieces from the island's music history including Martha Velez's Escape From Babylon, produced by GRAMMY Hall Of Fame inductee Bob Marley. A cassette tape featuring a recorded track from GRAMMY winners Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, and GRAMMY-winning reggae artist Peter Tosh will also be displayed. The museum will be operated by the Institute of Jamaica. (3/9)

Belgian Music Volume Sales Up
The Belgian Entertainment Association reported a 4.9 percent increase in music sales by volume, with more than 7 million singles sold in 2009, up 20 percent from the prior year. Album sales for the year dropped 2.5 percent and total revenue for music sales declined 2.3 percent while the digital music market saw a growth of 27 percent in turnover. The overall entertainment market in Belgium saw a total turnover of $835 million with more than 44 million units sold. (3/9)
