Jackson's "Thriller" Video Added To National Film Registry
Michael Jackson's 1983 video for the GRAMMY-winning song "Thriller" was among the 25 additions to the National Film Registry by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington for 2009. Spanning 1911 through 1995, "Thriller" was the sole music video entry added, alongside films such as Dog Day Afternoon, Jezebel and The Incredible Shrinking Man, among others. Jackson was recently awarded with a posthumous Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. (12/30)

Boyle, Ke$ha Set New Records
Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream sold a record 164,000 copies in Australia last week, topping the previous weekly record held by Guy Sebastian's Just As I Am (2003), according to the Australian Recording Industry Association. Boyle also became the first artist to exceed sales of 100,000 copies for two consecutive weeks, and her album has sold more than 400,000 copies in Australia to date. In related news, Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" sold 610,000 digital downloads in the United States last week, a record total for a female artist besting the previous mark held by Lady Gaga's "Just Dance," according to Nielsen SoundScan. The overall weekly digital download sales record is held by Flo Rida's "Right Round," of which Ke$ha contributed as a non-credited background vocalist. (12/30)
